Ballymoney DUP Councillor John Finlay has claimed that the upcoming Euro poll on June 4th could see a ‘green’ label being applied to Northern Ireland. A three-way split in the pro-Union vote has the potential to damage Unionism and undermine the Union. Mayor John Finlay has called upon the Unionist community to imagine what a Sinn Fein victory in the European election would be like and to ensure that a Unionist tops the poll.
John Finlay said:
"Cast your mind back to 2005, where Sinn Fein claimed victory in the West of the province. Republicans turned out in their hundreds at counts and on television, across Ulster waving tricolours and riveting in celebration of their success.
If people turn their minds to the upcoming European election we face a real possibility in seeing Sinn Fein top the poll. If this happens we will see Sinn Fein arguing that they are on course for a United Ireland in 2016, and claiming to be the largest party in Northern Ireland. Let’s prevent this from happening by voting for the only Unionist who can top the poll, Diane Dodds.

Fringe Unionist candidates, including the UUP, now Conservative candidate Jim Nicholson are a wasted vote. They offer nothing for Unionism and only seek to benefit their selfish and strategic interests.
On June 4th Unionists should turn out in force as Unionists turned out in 1912 to protest against Home Rule. Let’s see a Unionist victory and not a Sinn Fein Republican one." said the DUP councillor.
