FINLAY CONDEMNS WEEKEND ATTACK ON DRUMCON ORANGE HALL

Ballymoney councillor John Finlay has condemned the attack at the weekend on Drumcon Orange Hall. This attack coincides with the attacks and abuse on Apprentice boys in Rasharkin on Saturday night. Rasharkin Orange Hall was also attacked.

John Finlay has appealed for calm and immediate Police action to curtail such sectarian attacks on Protestants and property.

John Finlay said:

“I condemn this sectarian attack on Drumcon Orange Hall at the weekend. This attack follows a series of attacks on Orange Halls and on Protestants in the North Antrim area, which have been ongoing this year. I call upon the local Republican community and their leaders to rise above these attacks and see that those responsible are brought before the courts.

We have to put an end to such sectarian activity. Attacks on Orange Halls must stop. There should be no retaliation from Unionists and loyalists as it will achieve nothing, only to further and advance the aims of those who attack our Protestant Halls.

I also call upon the PSNI to step up patrols in the area.” the DUP councillor said.
