SINN FEIN CREATING MONSTER IN NORTH ANTRIM: FINLAY

Local DUP Councillor John Finlay has refuted allegations made by Sinn Fein's Daithi McKay that misslies were thrown last night by loyalists at the Police. Having spoken to the local Police Inspector it was made clear to him that Petrol bombs and misslies, including fire works and golf balls were thrown by Republican protesters. John described the behaviour of Republican protesters as "disgraceful" and said it was all in aid of raising tensions in the area.

John Finlay said:

“Sinn Fein and Daithi McKay are creating a monster in North Antrim. We are seeing the foundations of a campaign by Republicans to destroy community relations in the area. We are also seeing a campaign dogged by lies aimed at grabbing headlines for Republican propaganda purposes.

Having spoken to the local Police Inspector in Rasharkin he confirmed to me that missiles, including Petrol bombs, golf balls and fire works were thrown at Police and aimed at supporters of the bands. The behaviour of Republicans is nothing short of disgrace and is a campaign based on sectarianism.

Someone could have been seriously injured last night. If Mr McKay was demonstrating real leadership he would be seeking to reduce tensions rather than heighten them.

Sinn Fein have a major role to play in this. They are creating a monster aimed at the Protestants and Unionists of North Antrim.” said the local DUP councillor.
