Finlay Hits out at Anti-Unionist Graffiti Sprayed outside Protestant homes in Rasharkin

Ballymoney Councillor John Finlay has hit out at Republicans' for anti-Unionist graffiti which has been sprayed outside the homes of Protestants' living in Rasharkin, Co. Antrim. The graffiti states: “F.T.Q.” (Fuck The Queen).

He has called on Sinn Fein MLA, Daithi McKay and SDLP MLA Declan O’Loan to condemn this act of sectarianism targeting Protestants’ in the village.

Speaking today Cllr Finlay said:

“I totally condemn those responsible for this graffiti sprayed outside the homes of Protestants' in the village of Rasharkin. This is most offensive, intimidating and sectarian to the Protestants’ and Unionists’ living in the village. It is also most offensive to Her Majesty the Queen.

This comes one week after the band parade in Rasharkin. I call on Sinn Fein and the SDLP to come out and condemn this act of sectarianism. I also call on them to come out and say that Protestants' and Unionists' are welcome in the village and to face down those targeting Protestants' in this discriminatory and sectarian manner.

If it was graffiti aimed at Republicans’ Sinn Fein and the SDLP would be quick off the mark to condemn it, and Unionists’. This is double standards on their part.

This is further evidence that Protestants’ and Unionists’ aren’t welcome in the village. We cannot let those responsible for such activity get away with this.” Councillor Finlay added.
