DUP COUNCILLOR SLAMS NI WATER STINK AT HOSPITAL

Ballymoney DUP councillor John Finlay has condemned NI Water for causing a stink outside the Causeway Hospital so bad, it has caused patients to leave the facilities. Mr Finlay said he was speaking out after constituents contacted their local DUP advice centre in horror at the smell which is wafting to the hospital from a field owned by Invest NI. It has been discovered that the field is being used by Northern Ireland Water to dump sewage.

John Finlay said:

“A number of people have been in touch with the local DUP advice centre to complain, many of them patients. I was alarmed and concerned as a number of people discharged themselves from hospital because they couldn’t stand the stench.

I made a few enquiries and found that the land is owned by Invest Northern Ireland, but currently being let out to Water Service NI who have been using it to dispose of treated sewerage.

Unfortunately however this has resulted in causing a terrible smell and given that it is beside a hospital it has been a cause of concern for patients and visitors.

I have been in touch with the NI Environment Agency and will continue to keep the pressure on the authorities until we see the situation resolved which will hopefully be sooner rather than later.” the DUP Councillor said.
