Cllr John Finlay has condemned a threat on the life of a Protestant woman living in Rasharkin.
Last night the woman received a bullet case through her letter box along with a note stating: "GET OUT PROTESTANT SCUM".
Speaking after visiting the woman, John said:
"I totally condemn this threat on the life a Protestant woman.
She is deeply shocked and feels intimidated after having received a bullet case through her door as well as a threatening note telling her to get out. This is nothing more than a sick sectarian attack on an innocent woman.
This is not the new Northern Ireland we aspire to. We must work to stamp this sort of sectarian and violent behaviour out of Rasharkin. Tensions remain high this morning in the village.
I call on the PSNI to step up patrols in the village and for Government to get involved in creating a more stable environment for all the people of the village.
I appeal to anyone with information to bring it forward to the PSNI." he said.
