Ballymoney Councillor John Finlay joined a party delegation today to meet with PSNI Chief Constable Matt Baggott over the spiralling situation in Rasharkin.
Speaking after the meeting Cllr Finlay said:
"We had a very productive meeting discussing the spiralling situation in Rasharkin with a growing number of attacks on people's homes and on property.
I demanded that the Chief Constable take this seriously, especially as in the last week we have seen two Protestant's be threatened out of their homes and the attack on footballer, Chris Baird's, mothers home.
These attacks and threats are deplorable and I once again condemn all attacks on property owned by either Protestants' or Catholics.
I urged the Chief Constable to ensure that there is a police presence in the area in order to protect homes from attack and people from intimidation.
The Chief Constable provided a listening ear and took note of what we asked of him.
The situation in Rasharkin is worrying. No one should be subject to sectarian intimidation or death threats just because of their religion. We cannot allow a minority of trouble makers destroy community relations and dictate a policy of apartheid." Councillor Finlay added.
