He has said that it is a step in the right direction in improving public travel, particularly the railways which have faced a cash crisis the last few years as roads dominate travel.
John Finlay said:
“I welcome this multi-million pound investment linking Northern Ireland's two main cities, Londonderry and Belfast.
This line provides an important link for commuters in the Ballymoney area, particularly to Belfast where a large proportion of my constituents work. It offers the consumer faster travel times and better value for money.
Our rail services have been on the decline for many years as the car has become more popular, but as the cost of fuel rises, particularly during a recession, people will find it harder and harder to fill their car up with expensive fuel. This announcement has to therefore be welcomed in the current economic climate.” said the DUP councillor.
