DUP Ballymoney Councillor John Finlay has said that Jim Allister is involved in a serious campaign of lies against his party in a desperate cry for attention.
After the negotiations that the DUP has been having regarding securing a financial package for Policing and Justice Cllr Finlay has stated that Mr Allister has continually attacked his party in an attempt to cause fear and anxiety amongst the Unionist population.
Speaking today John Finlay said:
“For a man who focused his European election campaign on honesty, principle and integrity Mr Allister has shown that he is a blatant liar.
He has wrongly accused the DUP of letting Sinn Fein take the Ministerial post of Policing and Justice. He has also stated that Sinn Fein will have a say over the appointment of judges. This is yet another lie. Mr Allister has also told us that Policing and Justice will come under the control of North-South Bodies. This is another lie. Mr Allister is clearly desperate to grab the headlines instead telling us of his alternative which is to collapse Stormont and impose joint authority.
The Assembly is working, the situation may not be perfect but within time this will be corrected. The DUP is facing up to the enemies of Ulster as opposed to running away from them.
If we didn’t have the Assembly we would have had Irish taught in our schools, along with all public signs and documents prioritised in the Irish language. We would have water charges. We would have had a re-partition of Northern Ireland leaving Unionists in the West of the province in Republican dominated councils and we wouldn’t have had accountable Ministers.Mr Allister seeks to divide and conquer Unionism for himself by leading a campaign based on lies. This is not very honest of him.” the DUP councillor said.
